Annabelle Widjaja

Annabelle B&W Cropped

Intern

Annabelle Widjaja began her internship at FS Design Group as our librarian, managing our design sample library.

This thoroughly capable young woman quickly proved herself and started adding more sophisticated tasks to her plate. Because she is so detail oriented and a great listener, now, she helps our lead designers develop color palettes for our projects and edit drawings.

Annabelle developed her design skills first at Mesa College’s interior design program, where one of her student projects was chosen for inclusion in a renovation proposal for the campus. After completing her program at Mesa, Annabelle transferred to San Diego State University. She will graduate with a degree in interior architecture in 2025 at just 20 years old.

Her career trajectory really started long before college, when she used to accompany her father to his work sites. As a contractor, he builds a wide range of projects in Indonesia, but it was an indoor mall that really captured Annabelle’s attention and imagination.

Unlike in the U.S., malls in Indonesia are often six or seven stories tall. Annabelle imagined how incredible it would be to design one.

While she hasn’t gotten her hands on a mall project yet, Annabelle enjoys working on one of FS Design Group’s PACE projects. PACE stands for Program for All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly. Designing for PACE centers is one of our firm’s specialties.

Annabelle also loved the challenge of a recent school assignment at SDSU. She and her classmates were charged with renovating a barracks building at Liberty Station (the former Naval Training Center) and adding buildings that would honor the historic context of the destination. She enjoyed learning that FS Design Group completed many of the public spaces for that project and getting to “work” on them for school.

Annabelle loves living in San Diego and working at FS Design Group. In her free time, you’ll find her crocheting clothes and accessories or playing video games. Stardew Valley or Animal Crossing, anyone?

We are honored to have this talented and ambitious professional on our team. Thanks for your hard work, Annabelle!
