FS Design Group Helps Bring Three New CEI PACE Centers to Life in the East Bay

Overview:

FS Design Group, which specializes in creating thoughtful, ADA-compliant interior environments that blend clinical functionality with comfort and warmth, discusses its latest collaboration with the Center for Elders’ Independence (CEI). FS Design Group helped bring three new PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) centers to life in Northern California, each uniquely designed to support aging in place while promoting wellness, connection and community.

FS Design Group was honored to provide the interior design for three new Programs of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) centers in Northern California for the Center for Elders’ Independence (CEI). The new locations — PACE Tri-Valley in Livermore, PACE West County in El Sobrante and PACE Temescal in Oakland — were each thoughtfully crafted to reflect the spirit of their surrounding communities.

Each location offers seniors a beautifully designed, safe and supportive environment for aging independently at home, while enjoying access to comprehensive care and social connection. FS Design Group worked closely with CEI to create spaces that serve the medical, social and emotional needs of participants, while honoring the unique character of each community.

“We’re honored to continue partnering with CEI and Raymond Fox and Associates architects to design welcoming PACE centers that celebrate independence and support wellness,” said FS Design Group Owner and Principal Amy Tobia. “Each center reflects its surrounding landscape and community with thoughtful details that transform healthcare spaces into places of joy and connection.”

PACE Tri-Valley — Livermore

Inspired by the region’s natural beauty, FS Design Group designed PACE Tri-Valley as a retreat-like space reminiscent of Livermore’s rolling hills and vineyards. A palette of greens and earth tones paired with woven light fixtures and tall grass-inspired glass film brings the outside in. The 23,000-square-foot center is a warm, rustic environment where participants can access medical care, socialize and thrive.

PACE West County — El Sobrante

Once a beloved community roller rink, the PACE West County facility was transformed into a tranquil, beach-inspired day center. Coastal colors — soft creams, browns and whites — create a soothing backdrop for daily activities. A wave wall at the entrance, custom wood flooring and a nod to the building’s past with roller skate-inspired artwork create a welcoming blend of nostalgia and serenity. The center features a traditional hearth, and all the modern amenities needed to support senior wellness.

PACE Temescal — Oakland

In the heart of the city, PACE Temescal offers participants an “urban oasis” experience. Designed for a diverse community that includes both Oakland and Berkeley residents, the center evokes a sense of discovery with a lush garden wall at the entry, green planters to stroll through and a meandering path that leads inside. Rich, saturated colors and artwork that celebrates community and connectivity bring warmth and vibrancy. It’s a modern hub for health, joy and shared experience.

“The FS Design Group team is easy to work with and amazingly intuitive,” said CEI President and CEO Maria Zamora. “It was like they could see inside my head and bring our vision to life. These centers are beautiful, functional, and full of heart — just like the people we serve.”

All three CEI centers are ready to welcome participants, offering coordinated medical care, social services, nutritional support and transportation — all in one location. These thoughtfully designed spaces will allow seniors to live with dignity, independence and community, in settings that feel more like home than a clinic.
