Synergy Orthopedics’ Cutting-Edge Surgery Center in Mission Valley Features FS Design Group Interior Design

With locations around San Diego and Riverside counties, Synergy Orthopedics is the largest local orthopedic group. Synergy expanded its offerings last year with a 20,000-square-foot, cutting-edge outpatient surgery center in Mission Valley. FS Design Group was honored to provide interior design services to this dynamic team of medical professionals.
Our Design Scope of Work
The five-operating-room surgery center supports Synergy’s special focus on sports medicine as well as its diverse roster of subspecialists in orthopedic medicine.
Consultant Steve Bloom of Innovative Healthcare and The Bloom Organization, who facilitates the development and operational management of surgical centers throughout Southern California, including this one, said, “This is one of nicest surgical centers in San Diego, for sure. It’s a very warm and inviting environment that feels safe.”
In addition to providing specialized surgical rooms, this project involved overall tenant improvements for Synergy’s space within a multi-tenant office building.
How to Humanize a Medical Space with Interior Design
No matter how minor, surgery can be scary, so we worked with everyone on the team, including the client, to develop a light, neutral color palette for the design. Layered tone-on-tone textures and soft blue accents throughout the Synergy Orthopedics surgery center signal calming messages to the human brain.
The lobby is appointed with natural materials like wood and stone, and warm lighting provides a high-touch, upscale ambiance. We selected comfortable-yet-chic seating to further promote a calming environment.
Our medical office interior design approach is to infuse aesthetic touches more commonly found in hospitality design to transform the healthcare experience from clinical to welcoming. We’ve done this for PACE Centers (Program for All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly), medical centers and more.
Collaboration is Key
Our work is always easier and even more enjoyable when we have a strong team surrounding us. The client team, including head nurse Claudia Verduzco and Steve Bloom, were wonderful to work with, and we are always excited to team up with architecture firm Raymond Fox & Associates and general contractor Align Builders.
