JACQUIE HEIDNER

DESIGNER

From basements to yachts to breweries and beyond, Jacquie Heidner’s career in interior design has been adventurous.

It all started when 9-year-old Jacquie heard her family suggest a redesign for her grandmother’s basement. Jacquie grabbed a tape measure, recorded dimensions and got to work on a design.

The spark continued when she wrote her high school senior report about her aspirations of becoming an interior designer. Accordingly, she attended California State University, San Marcos and then Interior Designers Institute to earn a bachelor’s degree in interior architecture.

Next stop? Yacht design!

Efficiency and customization are the name of the game in yacht design, and Jacquie started her career learning how to draft just about anything (a table that turns into a bed, anyone?). She also had to do extensive research to make sure all materials were maritime approved and could be secured in place.

While she’s moved on from yachts, the experience with details is invaluable. Jacquie has designed for a broad range of project types over her career. Another unique experience was brewery design. Jacquie created layouts of tasting rooms, vats, back of house office space, ordering counters, tasting bars, pouring spaces and keg storage. She also assisted in color selections and worked with marketing teams on advertising themes and promotional materials, including signage.

Jacquie has always been a go-getter. Prior to joining FS Design Group, she was part owner and interior design director for a Bay Area design firm specializing in Tenant Improvements. She ran a wide range of project types from initial meetings through completion. She’s a fast learner, attentive and responsive. Jacquie thrives on finding ways to achieve her clients’ design wish lists and more!

Now at FS Design Group, Jacquie is designing, managing permitting processes, selecting finishes, creating construction documents and coordinating construction for several projects. Her current work is focused primarily on tenant improvements and healthcare facilities.

In between work, studying for her professional interior design certification exams and managing her family, Jacquie is an athletic sports fan who loves to travel. She and her husband attended an NFL game in England and have traversed the country to see all kinds of sports matches.

A Carlsbad resident, Jacquie also finds time to walk on the beach with her husband, kids and their golden retriever, Moose.

As for the basement redesign project from her childhood, her family never went through with the project. But after recently seeing the plans again decades later, Jacquie knows she was on the right career path then… and now.
